Can't get rid of 1914/607. It is the only thing keeping the organization together. Every single JW is Waiting for God to starting destroying everything and everyone except them. And it is all based on that one date. If they get rid of that date, there is no paradise to wait for anymore. It was all a ruse. That is the most Shocking thing of TTATT. That is what blows you away.

Crap Shoot
by John Aquila inwhat would have happen if i was not home when jehovahs witnesses knocked on my door?.
there was a group of us living in a small trailer in the mid 60s when and old pioneer brother knocked on our door and placed all kinds of books and magazines with us.
all of us took it seriously and studied and started attending the kingdom hall.

So "What if..." can get a person in trouble if they dwell on it too much.
I'm already in trouble OnTheWayOut

I think those who become JW's on their own (not born in) are already a bit lost or are searching or are heading for a fall and having any kind of strong direction in their lives is an improvement. JW's are out there actively recruiting people and the odds of them finding and attracting lost ones is very high
I agree 100% Pete Zahut
How many people do you know who were doing really well in life already, joined the JW's as adults?
In about 45 years as a JW--------NONE!-------0----------ziltzh!

My life would have been better simply because I would have had options.
Crazyguy, I think that is the Key. Michal Jackson's daughter was being forced by her grandmother to go to meetings and field service until finally the she refused. She had options. (Money, connections, youth, good looks.)
But some people have no options, in my Old Kingdom Hall an old homeless lady in her 50s living under the bridge was contacted by the JW sisters. They studied with her, told her she had to clean up her life and support herself to please Jehovah. The woman did and they helped her get a job at McDonalds and to this day she still works, is presentable, and has a circle of friends in the organization who invite her to gatherings and such. So for her, it was a good thing. I doubt it if anyone else would have taken the initiative to help her out. She had been homeless for years.

many serious scientists suggest that traveling back in time would not allow any change. They state that were someone to interfere with the past, then in all possibilities, they ALWAYS DID INTERFERE WITH THE PAST and nothing ever changed. They believe that any ability to tinker with time would eventually have been discovered and all of time would be unstable because of it and it would unravel to the point where none of our universe could exist anymore.
Man, life can get pretty mind boggling, there is so much to learn and not enough time. That's the only thing that bugs me, I Want More Time.

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brother Jeramy inallow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

I'm not an active "WT," by which I mean that while I am a Christian witness of Jehovah, I am not an advocate of the Watchtower Society that has unrightfully imposed itself as an authority over the Family of my brothers and sisters.
You are guilty by association.
Get in a car with a group of men who rob a bank and kill a few people and tell me you will get away scot free without any punishment because you make “A Statement” that you are not an advocate of the men that just robbed and killed. The chances of you escaping punishment are nil, even if you are a righteous person.
The God of the Bible deals the same way with individuals who associate with groups of people engaging in wrongdoing.
(Ezekiel 21:3) . . .And you must say to the soil of Israel, ‘This is what Jehovah has said: “Here I am against you, and I will bring forth my sword out of its sheath and cut off from you righteous one and wicked one.
Those righteous ones were destroyed not because they were doing wrong,(They were righteous) but because they were “Part of an apostate nation”
Just like you are part of the WT.

There was a group of us living in a small trailer in the mid 60s when and old pioneer brother knocked on our door and placed all kinds of books and magazines with us. All of us took it seriously and studied and started attending the Kingdom Hall.
I got baptized and followed through for the next 45 years.
One of my friends quit the JW, went to school to become a doctor and when he finished med-school he got killed in a car accident.
Another one of my friends quit the JW and got involved in drugs and was shot in the head by a drug dealer
Another one of my friends inherited a fortune from his grandparents, quit the JW and spent all his life chasing beautiful women, fast cars, and beautiful homes. Today he is single and old, and living in one place for no more than a year and then moves to another location.
Another one of my friends met a girl who was not a JW, quit the JW, married her, bought a small home had lots of kids and to this day is still married to her, and is quite satisfied with life.
I’m not sure what happen to the other friends, they quit the JWs and I never saw them again.
Would life have been better if we hadn’t opened the door to that old pioneer brother?
I’m not sure if it would. It might have been worse.
It seems like life is just one big Crap Shoot.

Looks like Tower is against WT
Description;
Beth, a volunteer at the Witnesses' world headquarters, is already struggling with confusion over her romantic interest in a fellow Witness which is being discouraged by others, uncertainty about her plans for the future & out-of-character, disturbing actions by close friends.
Things snowball, however, when she discovers a side of her religion's organization that she never knew existed . . . and a conspiracy that was deeper than she bargained for. -

Will they jump of the building?
by John Aquila induring the depression people committed suicide because everything they had invested in was gone overnight in an instant.
many people are very fragile creatures.
if by some freaking chance, (like enron, tiger woods, or the morning of august 1945 in hiroshima) the wts gets caught in a humongous scandal, say like links to human sex trafficking, (i can fantasize right) and the government steps in to investigate and finds them guilty and legally shuts them down permanently, will there be tons of suicides?
